Courage is more exhilarating than fear and in the long run it is easier.
We do not have to become heroes overnight.
Just a step at a time, meeting each thing that comes up, seeing it is not as dreadful as it appeared, discovering we have the strength to stare it down
- Eleanor Roosevelt
Doesn't mean that doubt never follows you around. It does not even have to yours. The world is full of broken dreams. I witnessed one shattering right in front on my eyes today. It was hard to witness. A cycle repeating. It wasn't mine, but it felt like it was. It broke my heart to see a human being who knows of all the reason he cannot and will not succeed. I tried to make him look about all the other options, but he's learned his helplessness well. If only, he left some room for doubt.
It's the only thing I never wish to give up on. The belief that, given enough time and effort, I can do anything I want. As long as I don't get in my own way.
We truly can be our worst enemies. I don't think we'll ever come across a more fierce enemy as ourselves. Yet, luckily we have many who have taken the path of courage, faced worse odds and still made it. Just like my forefathers and mothers. So shall I. Not just for me, maybe along the way I'll have an impact on one persons life. Maybe my courage too will rub off.
