First stream done

Revised Text

As promised to myself a few days ago, I’ve done my first stream. It lasted just under an hour and wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I turned off all chats and told nobody about it. I thought it might be good to get a few practice rounds in, and it felt a lot easier not knowing if anyone was watching. I didn’t make any progress with the driver, but I’m quite glad I got the first stream out of the way. I woke up insanely early (4 a.m.) to be able to do it. I’ve been meaning to get back into waking up early, as a few of my projects are falling behind and there’s quite a bit I need to catch up on. Usually, the mornings before the gym are when I get this done. It was rough this morning—and still is—as I’m functioning on very little sleep. At the same time, the first few days are always the hardest. After a few days, I’ll be so tired that I’ll fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow.

Busy Week

The last few days have been really busy, as we launched a major change at my contracting gig. It went a lot better than anticipated, and there were fewer than a handful of problems. Considering the entire backend was moved from Strapi to my Go API, I’m quite glad we did everything at once. Even though it was a lot of work, it got done in about two months. Now we can focus on making things better and building new and interesting features.

That also means I’ve fallen behind on my software over the last week. There are a couple of bugs that need addressing and a feature that needs to be finished. My goal is to get it done today so that I can spend tomorrow working on my driver.

Stream Every Day?

I’m thinking it might initially be a good idea to stream every day, just like with this blog. It does help build a habit and routine. I might even livestream writing this blog. I’m not sure if that will be entertaining, but I don’t care. After a couple of weeks, I’d like to upload the streams to YouTube as well, since Twitch only keeps streams for a week. Anyway, those details can be worked out later.

I have to say I’m quite proud of myself for having done it, even though only four people showed up. That’s not the metric I’m chasing anyway. At this stage, my first and only focus is to stream regularly and later figure out improvements. My goal is to let it naturally evolve into something I’m happy doing and that others find interesting.
