Backyard treasures

These apply to anywhere you are. I've heard that location determines to a great degree, your success. Yesterday I had the realization that, believing this has been setting me back. I was blown away by how much a company I have been contracting for was making. In the same place I believed that had a small economy. The number is quite high anywhere in the world, enough to put you in the top one percent in the world. It might not make world news, but as an individual I don't care about that. To be honest, it's something I tend to do with quite a few aspects of my life. I've been able to overcome this self imposed limitation when it comes to programming and working out. Mainly focusing on your own goals and the cards that you have been dealt with. Sure, there are much better cards out there, and that will always be true. It's irrelevant.

We all have limitations like genetics, location and resources. At the same time, I know that I haven't even achieved fifty percent of my potential. There is so much left on the table. Focus over a long period of time is invaluable. It's compounding, there will always be trends, the next big thing. At the same time being the top ten percent at what you do, will continue to pay dividends. It's also a lot more satisfying, to get fucking good at something.

Letting go of self imposed limitations

It's best to not focus on what's missing. Anything worth doing, is hard. So what? Just get to it, over the course of a year or two or ten it'll become second nature. The struggles will always be there, the goal post always keeps moving. Just accept that truth and get to work. Do what needs doing, let go everything else.

I swear this letter is the answer to all my limitations.
